Blue Shield Insurance Company Ltd was established on December 4, 1982, and quickly became a key player in Kenya’s insurance sector. Our headquarters are located at Blue Shield Towers, Upper Hill, Nairobi. Over the years, we offered a wide range of insurance products designed to protect the lives and businesses of our clients. Due to significant financial challenges, Blue Shield Insurance Company Ltd was placed under statutory management. From January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2013, Mr. Eliud Muchoki Muriithi served as the first statutory manager, working diligently to address the company’s financial issues. Following his tenure, the Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) took over management from July 4, 2014, to June 26, 2024. Despite their best efforts to stabilize and revive the company, the financial difficulties proved too great to overcome. Their efforts, however, were crucial in managing the company’s affairs during that turbulent period, ensuring that all possible measures were taken to try and save the company.
Currently, Blue Shield Insurance Company Ltd is undergoing liquidation pursuant to a Liquidation Order issue on 3rd July 2024 and Mr Long’et Terer, MBS has been appointed as the Liquidator to manage the affairs of the Company, including securing and preserving its assets. This process was initiated to ensure that the company’s remaining assets could be used to settle its debts and obligations. The liquidation process aims to fairly distribute the company’s assets to protect the interests of its creditors and policyholders. The decision to liquidate was a difficult but necessary step to ensure a fair resolution for all parties involved. The ongoing liquidation process is being carried out with the utmost care to ensure that all stakeholders are treated fairly.
